I believe you can turn the sound off in your BIOS.

If you turn the sound off via the BIOS, you turn off all sound.

The way to disable it is to enable Asus fancystart through the BIOS and then download the program from the Asus website.

In the program, I just set it to mute (look at upper right) from like 4:00AM-3:59AM so there is only one minute of the whole day that its not muted and its at a time that I'll rarely if ever will start up the comp

There is in the G51 too but like I said, in G51s, if you enable that option, you disable sound for the computer for everything (in windows, etc...)

Or you could set the Volume in bios to Zero... This way it will be muted, and the sound in Windows will not be changed...

You can also enable Quiet Boot to get rid of it all together.

so what is the final verdict...how do you mute it? using fancy start or using MUTE in BIOS sound option or setting it to 0 in sound level option?

    which one is it?

Just turn of the asus boot logo if the sound bothers you that much. Then you'll just be left with your standard bootup screen.

It's called Quiet Boot in the BIOS under boot settings. You want it disabled to hide the ASUS logo screen.

IIRC, Quiet Boot will like prevent you from seeing the POST messages too so you'd potentially run into issues later on.

As SirHase said, just turn speaker volume to 0 in the BIOS. This speaker volume is for the explosion startup sound and does not make a difference to sound during windows :)
