I've got questions about two issues that I've been having with my W3J:

1.) Whenever I boot into Windows XP, the built-in Bluetooth radio automatically turns on, and I have to push the Bluetooth button on the right side of the computer to turn it back off every time. How can I make the Bluetooth default to off instead?

2.) When I turn the computer on, the BIOS automatically scans for connected IDE devices. Can I disable these automatic scans? I know I won't be connecting any other IDE devices, and the IDE scan takes an extra second or two to complete. I don't like having to wait those few extra seconds just for it to tell me that there are no secondary IDE devices connected.

    Thanks!

Edit: Argh, the first question was already addressed in another thread. I should have searched more carefully! Sorry!

Indeed, this was recently addressed. I've found that reinstalling the program solves the problem.

I don't have access to my W3J at the moment but I'm pretty sure mine does not do these scans. If the boot device order is correct, look for a setting in the BIOS which might have an impact.

for the 1st issue, you can disable the bluetooth device under device manager from the system properties.

for the 2nd, enter bios, then select the option "do not detect hard disk automatically" or named something like that

also set the boot sequence as hdd first cdrom second therefore you will gain an extra second

No, the included Asus app for switching wireless or bluetooth on and off. I don't have my laptop on me so I can't check but I think it's called wirelessconsole2 or wireless console or something similar. If it's not installed, find it on the Asus W3J download site and install it and then use the bluetooth button to turn bluetooth off. If it is installed, try uninstalling and reinstalling and then do the same.

The program we're talking about is Wireless Console 2. If it is installed and working correctly, you can press Fn+F2 (in W3J) several times until you get to the option you want (Wireless LAN only, or WLAN & BT off).
