First, I have heard that the 7.2WHr battery sticks out of the case, so is this problem serious? Is there any picture showing this?
Second, it is said that the 4.8WHr battery is not sold in US, is that true?
I really like this machine and want to buy one, thanks.

    Hey Xniteman,
As far as I can tell there are very few places that are actually selling the 48Whr or 72Whr battery packs. I've done a small web search and was only able to find a few places in europe selling the 48Whr, couldn't find a 72Whr at all. To that point I have not seen any 72Whr battery packs for sale, nor have I seen any pics or heard a story from someone who actually has one. Yet there are plenty of people saying they heard that someone else said....etc etc.... that the 72Whr pack sticks out. Personally I take these as romours which may or may not be true.
As ASUS does seem to be advertising these high capacity battery's I would be surprised if they don't eventually turn up esp in the US. Best idea would be to contact ASUS support and ask them about this (see contact details below).
    Hope this helps

    Thanks :)

And I have pics showing that the 4.8WHr battery already sticks out of the back of the case, so I think it is very reasonable that the 7.2WHr one sticks out of the bottom.

More pics if you change the id to 1920 and 1919
A Chinese site, but picture is the common language.

I think Asus sucks on the battery part! How the hell could Panasonic make their 6.6WHr battery for W2 so freaking small?
But the design of M5N is so sweat! I cannot find a single other model which could pack so much power into such a small case!

    Hey XniteMan,
Nice find on the battery pics there. That is the first real evidence I have seen and am happy to eat my words :)
And with regards to your other comments there are no diagreements from me either. Like most things in life you can never find the perfect object in this case a notebook, that has all the best things packed into one. I'm not sure why, but I guess at some point price/money gets in the way of producing the ultimate package. In addition ASUS does seem to be advertising a lot of stuff (high capacity batterys, high res 15.4" screens etc) but as yet non of these seem readily available. I'm hopeing that by the middle of this year things will be sorted out!

As my eariler post said, the 48whr battery is available but its very hard to find. There are a few places in europe and I'm guessing that its also avaliable in asia. If you live in the US then your best bet for info is to contact ASUS support and find out from them when/where/if the 48 and 72 Whr will be available.
