I came to read everything about the u2e ultra portable notebook, but found pretty much no posts about it. Why is that ? I mean it's not THAT new..

It's still somewhat new and Asus recently did a minor on CPU from U7500 to U7600. What would you like to learn about this notebook in general? Thanks!

Basicly i just wanted to read about other peoples experience with it, to see if its for me.
The reason i was so surpriced to see no other users talk about it, is that i know , like u said, that there already had been U2E-1P023G on the market, and now there is U2E-1P023E.
Maybe its just becuz its too expensive that noone seems to own it, or want it. I certainly want it, but think the price is a bit steep, and i also think there is a couple of features missing in it. First and foremost they should have made room for a 3G-turbo modem in it. I think that makes alot of sense in a luxary ultraportable notebook like that. There are other notebook manufactures that have those now(lenovo and HP)
I also think that the glare type display is a major mistake in a laptop thats gonna be used everywhere on the go. I fear the glare will give annoying reflections in a bright room, or outside, even though the LED type display suposedly should give 30 % more brightness.
In general i think the manufactures should get over their ''shiny is better'' period. It was a mistake from the beginning to make monitors shiny. And today its a challenge to find one thats not ''glared''. Maybe i stand alone with that opinion, i donno.

You won't find much info here on the U2 because very few forum members around here these days are in the market for a sub-12" model, probably because of combination of price and overall member focus on the gaming/multimedia system offerings (F3/8, G1/2, M5x/7x). The U3/6 models share similar limited focus, and the S6/U1 never had any real threads. This has been the case on the Asus forum for a long time now, and in general the market size for small subnotebooks is pretty limited outside of the business community.

Asus is going to manufacture what they think will sell well, based on their global market, not the NA market (which remains a pretty small portion of their sales volume). Glare screens are here to stay, esp in the consumer market, because that is what the public demands and what they decided to purchase when the screens were first introduced a couple of years ago - matte screen sales on similar models tanked.

I completely agree... But like ClearSkies says, I'm not sure matte screens will be back anytime soon...
