Hi all, I've ordered the u30jc 8-cell battery via asusparts eu but they won't have it in stock for a couple of weeks. Browsing the u30jc thread I've been alarmed to find out that the 8-cell model is rated at 14.4-15V(I forget), whereas my original 6-cell battery is rated 10.8V.

Will the new battery be compatible with my u30jc? Do I risk frying the laptop? I forwarded my concerns to the store and I think I'm still in time to cancel my order if necessary.

    Thanks.

Edit: Btw, does asusparts eu sell legit ASUS parts? Because I've seen a lot of sites claiming to sell battery replacements with suspicious-looking specs, I dare say most don't sell original ASUS-made batteries. The official asus store in my country doesn't ship to my province so I'm pretty much limited to asusparts.eu.

I would be wary of the battery... You have a 6 cell which means 2 parallel sets of 3 cells in series (3*3.7V = 11.1V). An 8 cell means 2 parallel sets of 4 cells in series (4*3.7V=14.4V). You need a 9 cell which would be 3 parallel set of 3 cells in series (3*3.7V). So if you are certain you have a 6 cell battery, and you just ordered an 8 cell battery, cancel your order!!

Are you absolutely sure your computer is a U36 and has a 11.1V or 10.8V battery pack?

On the other hand, AsusParts.eu is reputable, they were prompt with their messaging and delivered a new secondary OLED screen for my G50vt just fine.

ahh alright it seems you know your stuff. I still think the 8 cell battery you ordered is incorrect though, it should be a multiple of 3. There are no 8 cell batteries that work at 10.8V.

The 8-cell battery is for the same model of my laptop, supposedly. I just need to know if a U30JC that came with a 6-cell battery will work with the 8-cell, or if its even more specific.

Just checked this again and I definitely have the 15V 5600 mAh, 84WH battery pack that shipped with my U30Jc A1 Asus model notebook and I've been using for the last year and a half with no problems.

    Hope this helps.
