these are not final stats, like I said yesterday on other thread, xoticpc told me they need to get the stats from asus still, you can see that over on xoticpc forums. In no way are these stats accurate at this time.

It will not have 10 hours battery life, it might not have turbo 33 but you can cross your fingers on that, and it won't be what was pictured there, it will more then likely look like the one shown at ces 10, it will also not have a 4500mhd, but instead the new intel hd graphics.

They straight copied the ul30vt-a1 for the stuff they have not known yet, so DO NOT expect those specs to be won't you will receive in mid february.

Looks like gentechpc put one up there too for preorder, but again that one has a lot of iffy specs like pm45 chipset, and it has ul30vt written in the descriptions many times, my guess is they don't have the final stats up yet either. However it does look like they might have the right pictures at gentechpc

    No backlit keyboard?
Also, they could have come with a USB 3.0 port.
    Glare again...

So basically, they just switched the CPU.

The 310M is almost exactly as the 210M . Nvidia just relabeled it and some tiny higher clocks...

I'll wait a little bit to see if the spec's are finalized and what it really has, otherwise I'll get the Sony S11 with a backlit keyboard. I had hoped to buy an Asus, but not being able to see it first hand and having seen the other one with an i5 and backlit keyboard and a good build quality, it may just push me that way.

Meh, no bluetooth, no e-Sata port and no backlit keyboard.

    The price is ok.

what asus needs to do is bring back the u80 and u50, pop some 1600x900 screens in there, i5 and arrendale i7 with switchable graphics, backlit keys and ati 5 series gpus. Its a natural evolution and I sincerely hope to see that soon. a u80 with those specs would give the sony cw a new daddy.

Oh, and they need to double the price. Let's be at least a bit realistic here, gents.

True, I know that all of that wishing is useless.

I'm not a gamer so I could take or leave the NVIDIA as it is, I mostly just wish there had been a backlit keyboard, and an upgrade option for the i5-540M.

I've been shopping for a new laptop for about 2-3 months now and I'm still waiting to find a laptop that has the Intel i5-540M with the default Intel GMA HD, a 13"/14" inch 900p LED screen, Intel Ultimate-N 6300 or at least the 6200, and hopefully a backlit keyboad. (SSD drive and 9 cell battery options are nice too).

So far the only thing that has come close to this has been the Dell Studio 14.

The Toshiba Satellite U500-ST6344 also comes close (those keyboards feel too funny for me and the screen wasn't LED or 16:9), and the Sony blue label from Best Buy looks good except that the processor is only i5-430M and I'm not too sure about buying from Best Buy (I always hear horror stories for Linux users).

I like my UL30Vt, but I wish it was aluminum (I'd pay an extra $200). The keyboard is simply too soggy at times so if the U30JC is more rigid then I'd switch laptops.

Not to be rude, but the closest match for an Nvidia Optimus-equipped aluminum notebook is probably a Macbook Pro. Starting price beyond $1500.

My U30Jc is very rigid. The keyboard is excellent, not clicky but not mushy either.

The aluminum lid and palm rest look very elegant and feel very nice. No fingerprints either.

I'd think the U30Jc is a closer match and costs $869.

Though the aluminum in the U30Jc is only the lid (a metal plate really) and the palm rest & trackpad. It looks elegant, but isn't comparable to the MBP unibody. But then, nobody is.

I think that the apple does not use Optimus. Apple developed its own auto-switching process that likely relies on a multiplexer on the mobo. Strangely, it was designed by former ATI engineers. Does this mean that ATI should have a solution like Apple's hardware switching soon?
