I'm looking at getting the U30JC, I would like the i5 for a little boast in performance but I'm wondering how much I'm going to loss in battery life?

It depends on which i5 you're comparing with the i3 CPUs. For example, the i3 CPU has a TDP of 35 watts. The low wattage i5 CPUs are 18 watts while the regular i5's are 35 watts.

Didn't even think of looking up the CPU specs from intel, both the i3-330 and i5-430 are 35 watts. Going with the i5!!!
