So as the title states, I have the opportunity to buy a brand new U35jc or slightly used U30jc for $500 (i could probably get the u30jc price lowered a little more). When I read that the laptops with sandy bridge were coming out soon, i decided that i was going to just buy a EEEpc for ~$120 and use it in class until the SBs came out. But now that i have the chance to the u30/u35 for only $500 i'm debating on whether i should wait for the SBs or not. Any advice is appreciated!

The u30, especially if it's got an nvidia card in it, will last a lot longer than a netbook - even without, it's still HD capable with the 4500mhd.

It really depends how long you're going to hold onto it. A year or two? Get the netbook. Until it dies? $500 is a nice price for good performance.

If you can hold out until march, then wait for SB, if not, the price is great on those machines.

PS: the hold until march is because ASUS has released all the line up until feb.
