Wow thanks! It looks like it also has a built in camera.
My only problem with it is that gentechpc only offers 1066mhz 8gb ddr3 while I can get the a1 at xotic pc with 1333mhz 8gb ddr3 at a slightly cheaper price.

The U30JC models uses the PM45 chipset which can only support up to 1066Mhz FSB so any faster ram will just run on the motherboards max speed of 1066. It would simply be a waste of money if u put 1333 ram in the laptop

Core i3 and i5 will only support 1066Mhz of RAM, so even you put 1333 in there it'll only read 1066 that's why we didn't listed as an option.

The upgrades from Win7 HP to Pro and a 5400RPM HD to 7200RPM are not really worth that much, imo, even if the retail value says they are.

For most people, Home Premium should suffice. However, for those who need XP compatibility and especially remote desktop service, the extra price should be well worth it. Also, those who want an internal BT module without sacrificing their manufacture warranty should also consider the A2B version instead.

I guess it isn't worth it to me because I don't need any of that but to each his own.

Well, there are other added features that I haven't listed such as the ability to back up to a home or business network and join domains/workgroups more securely. Though not everyone may be able to take full advantage of these features, it's still nice to know you have them just in case.

I actually had a U30JC-A1 on order from GenTech which was specced out like the A2B, but then I found out that I could get the A2B for like 50 bucks cheaper and get it sooner.
I was on the fence about adding bluetooth before, but having it in this model just sweetened the deal for me. My primary use for it will be business, as I believe that this notebook is intended, so I think the A2B will easily overtake the A1 as the model of primary interest for most buyers.
The only concern is higher powered parts sapping more battery, but I can't imagine that it cuts off more than an hour altogether.

I don't see why the battery life would vary significantly. 5400rpm and 7200rpm HDDs usually has a 0.1-0.3Watt difference. This minuscule difference shouldn't be enough to impact battery life in any significant way. As for the bluetooth, we, that can always be disabled when not in use.

Yeah, you are right about the battery life, the real issue is heat production. I remember using the C90 with a 5400 RPM drive and a 7200 RPM drive, the heat under the palm rests was almost unnoticeable with the 5400 RPM, whereas the 7200 RPM could definitely be felt, particularly while gaming.
