Quick question -- I have a fresh install on my U36, however my power profile toggle button (Quickboot/button on the left) is not working in Windows for changing power profiles like it did for my W7sg, is this normal?

Likewise and probably a related issue - my fn F10-F12 buttons for changing volume do not work either; yet hardware linked fn keys such as the brightness of the laptop work. I suspect this is a software issue. I reinstalled ATKPackage but these butons still do not work. any ideas?

You need to install ATK package and power4gear software.

Thanks Ken for the quick reply.
I have both those installed and reinstalled...the U36's power4gear is called "Power4Gear Hybrid" and I can change the profile settings via the software / desktop widget. but pressing the "quick boot" does not change a thing

Pear-i where are you getting the 2 softwares that you mention above? If you have a driver disk that came with your machine install the original versions of both software from it. Sometimes the latest version from here ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download
    may not be the 'greatest'.
