My U36SD behaves kind of weird. I often plug in an iPod to the USB port to charge it up. When I close the lid of my laptop, it goes into two types of sleep mode randomly: (1) completely turns off (like a shutdown, no lights) and it does not charge anything; (2) normal sleep mode with blinking power button (charges USB ports). I didn't change any settings for closing the lid in Windows 7 (just the default). Why does it do this?

Maybe your ipod cable is bad, do you have another cable you could try?

I also charge an Android phone too, different cable. Does the same thing.

Does it do this on all USB ports?

All of the USB ports behave the same. When the computer is off mode (1), there is no lights, nothing.

Figured it out. Default settings for closing the lid in Windows 7 was "hibernate" both in battery and AC charge mode. I didn't realize what was happening. I just noticed that my setting was put to "sleep" after 30mins idle as well. I've always charge while the computer was on and then it idles, go to sleep, and still charges the USB. All this time, I thought it also charges when I close the lid.
