U3S seems to be a pretty good 13.3 notebook... comparable with Sony SZ. How come there's not a lot of news on it? No review or anything. Why is this?

I guess the 512 onboard RAM kinda sucks + the lack of optical drive :(

I just order my U3S this week, I can't wait. The owners lounge here on this forum has some current owner impression and reviews, so check it out.

Well, it's different for each person. Some people just don't use their optical drives that often. Especially if you don't watch any DVDs on your notebook. Worse case scenario, just buy an external DVD drive for $70 on Newegg. As for the 512mb onboard memory, I can't imagine how anyone would need more than 2.5gb RAM on a light weight/ultra-portable notebook. Obviously, the U3S isn't meant for gaming or 3d rendering, so it's pointless to have that much ram.

I've been using the U3S with 1.5gb RAM and it works fine. It's actually faster than the Thinkpad T61p I received from work, with 2gb RAM, XP, and faster HDD. (although that's probably due to all the preinstalled IBM software)

Yeah I definitely like the look of black u3s more than the black v2s-b1. They're both fine business laptops, but I prefered the camera remaining flush as opposed to the v2 camera sticking out.
