Hey guys, after searching google and these forums I haven't found much on this.

I got my U46E today, immediately did a clean install of Win 7. Installed all the necessary drivers from the Asus website - including the Synaptics touchpad drivers.

Before I wiped, I had two-finger scroll. But now the Synaptics settings only allow me to configure the buttons - no gestures or tapping options show up. Tried drivers from Synaptics website - same deal.

How can I get my tapping/2-finger-scroll options back?

    Thanks

The Elan drivers (which come pre-installed with the laptop) give you all the multi-touch features. They are on the Asus download/support site for the U46E model.

However, I have found that with these drivers the pointer sometimes becomes a little erratic...as you put your finger to the touchpad it jumps around and is really annoying. Installing the Synaptics drivers resolves the issue, but, like you said, you lose all the multi-touch features.

I spoke to Asus support and they said to return it as it might be a hardware issue. I'm not sure it is a hardware issue though, as the pointer is fine with the Synaptics drivers.

    Anyone have the same problem?

BTW, the Elan drivers are shown as Version V8.0.5.0 on the Asus website.

Very helpful thank you. Nothing apparent to note this on the site.
