Hey guys, I'm not sure what happened but my touch pad for my laptop u47. Not behaving correctly... The cursor is very jumpy, it's not responsive, non my the multi gesture works. When I put a finger on the touch pad, the cursor is moving everywhere.
I've uninstalled the driver and updated to a newer version and that didn't help, finally I reinstalled a new copyof wwindows 7 and the problem still persists.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bad firmware or bad hardware. If you did a fresh install, it's probably one of those two. Did you install an updated chipset driver first? Sorry to hear it pooped right on Christmas day.
Try using an external mouse while you check on the chipset driver, and also: uninstall the device driver from Device Manager for the touchpad, and let Windows detect it and reinstall it. I hope it helps! -
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I installed the chipset, updated the bios and everything. it didn't helphowever what i found interesting was that later that day when i made the first post, the touch pad magically fixed it self, the gestures worked, the cursor wasn't jumpy. But it came to an end today. I really don't know what to do...

Sigh...It's so weird, when the cursor turns all jumpy and super sensitive, it is fixed temporarily for a few seconds when i press the function key. I tried pressing alt, and all the keys from the left side of the keyboard. Finally I came across the space bar, I pressed it once and the touch pad is normal again. I don't know how long this will last... well it looks like it acted up again... - _ -

Did you try uninstalling the keyboard driver and the touchpad driver via Device Manager? With an updated chipset driver, if that doesn't end up working either, then it sounds faulty.

Yes I tried it, I guess it the touch pad itself that's the problem... It works fine if i keep a hand touching the left or right side of the laptop ( where the stickers are )
I want to send the laptop back to Asus for a replace of the touch pad, but I forgot to register my Accidental warranty when I first purchased the unit back in August... On the warranty, it said to must register within 60 days of purchase. -
I get the feeling that it could be a loose cable, damaged cable or a cracked PCB. You only need to register for the accidental damage warranty i the US or Canada. They'll honor the warranty based on the manufacturing date if you didn't register.

Is this even a case of accidental/physical damage, OP?
U47vc touch pad broke on Christmas day...
