Later last year, I bought a U50A from BestBuy on Black Friday. The first thing I did was reinstall a clean copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. That went perfectly smoothly and, with regards to the topic at hand, I was able to use Google video chat with a full 30fps and enjoy a smooth, high quality upstream and downstream between myself and friends.

Sometime in Spring, I reinstalled Windows again. Same copy, same drivers, same internet connection. I only tried using Google video chat recently again, and my upstream is awful. The downstream is fine. I tried updating drivers from Asus' website. I tried using Skype instead of Google video chat. I switched from wifi to a hardwired, gigabit connection. My internet connection recently fritzed out and so even the line connecting my house to the telephone pole was replaced a week ago.

All of this has been to no avail. As of tonight, it still seems like I'm uploading video at a laggy 15fps with abysmal quality.

Various bandwidth throughput tests have me sitting at roughly 100kbps uploading, which has been confirmed time and time again through FTP transactions and torrents. I posted this question on Google video's forum, and they assured me that if Skype was doing it to, it must be my bandwidth. Clearly that is not the issue, but I can understand how they would come to that conclusion.

Any help? Other than this bit, I've loved this laptop. =) A great purchase, for sure.
