I purchased 2 4GB sticks of memory to upgrade my U50F. Corsair - 2-Pack 4GB 1.3GHz DDR3 SoDIMM Laptop Memory Kit. Replaced the existing 4 GB of memory with the 8GB, and the boot time went from about 30 sec to 3.5 minutes. Took that memory back, and got some PNY memory. Same thing, 3.5 minute bootime. Windows 7 saw the RAM, no blue screen, all well, except the computer was sluggish as hell. Put the original RAM back in and everything was back to normal. Boot time to desktop 30sec. What is going on??? Does anyone have a clue as to how 8GB of RAM is slower than 4GB. Help please.
BTW, ASUS tech support was amateurish and no help at all.![]()

The new memory is not really compatible. Send it back and get new RAM that matches the timings of the stock RAM.

I had the U50F before and also tried upgrading the ram. If I remembered correctly, you can do 6gb ram setup. And anything more would make it run really slow, I never understood why it would do that. But I guess the motherboard did not accept more than 6.
