    Need some Opinions/Advice

Both at Best Buy. ANy significant weaknesses in the U50F? ASUS has a slightly smaller display, smaller battery.....

My PC has to come from Best Buy, I want the 18 month financing.

Anyone have any significant failures or chronic problems with their U50F? Most PCs will fit my needs well, I'm buying mostly on Price and reliability reputation.

    Thanks in advance

AM I doing something wrong or is this just a no good laptop? As ubiquitous as Best Buy is, I thought I might get an educated opinion or two

    awang429,

I don't think you are doing anything wrong, my similar request met the same level of response. I think its that most folks here are more interested in the higher end asus laptops, not the lower-end ones like the U50F.

So, your criteria above about price and reliability reputation sums up this laptop. My U50F has some quirks that I need to work through (display is sometimes garbled coming out of hibernation, time has randomly jumped twice on me). It's still 100x better than than the HP laptop is replaced.

I'm a computer consultant and my computer died and I had to have something fast so I bought this without much research. I bought it because it was a great spec for the price. It's been a nightmare. I've had it about 3 weeks and I would return it if could. When typing the cursor will jump around the screen and you won't be typing where you thought you were. In fact you will often erase what you typed and not realize it. Also I've experienced 2 times now when it has come out of hibernation that the time and date will be off by YEARS. I've found some information around the net that I'm not the only one with these problems but no one seems to have a solution. I haven't had time to call Asus but I will.
