Alright guys,
I need some info here... i am almost ready to buy.. but now i can decide which one i want.
So far from the ASUS website and from what i can tell, they are almost the same laptop.
The major difference are:
U50Vg
15.6" 2.56 kg
T9550/P8700
NVIDIA® GeForce® G 105M , with 512MB VRAM
U80g
14" 2.15 kg
T9400/P8600
ATI Mobility™ Radeon® HD 4570, 512MB VRAM
Everything else is pretty much the same. *(if i am missing something key please let me know and ill correct it)*
So essentially, the u50Vg is a slightly bigger machine with an option for slightly better CPUs.
The display on them is the same resolution, however one is ATI one is Nvidia, i don't know how these to bad boys stack up against each other. I am defiantly an ATI fanboy so i am leaning towards the 14" model.
What i am looking for is:
- Performance - how much of a difference will i see? I'm told both can handle source games very well at moderate settings.
- Heat management? How cool do these puppies run? Which one runs cooler?
- Battery Life? How long does each last? Which is better?
- Price, seriously, i can not find ANY INFO ON THESE THINGS.
Please help me out i am planning on buying between these 2 very soon.
If you have any advice / links to any ENGLISH reviews please let me know.

For reference, this is a repost but here is what i am looking for, and what i feel both of these will fill the roll of.

Screen Specifics
11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?
Bigger is better, but i am not spending 300 bucks for a 1080p. 16x10 is also alright. Anything smaller may be considered if it makes up for the lack of size in other areas.

c. WSXGA+ – 1680x1050;
d. WUXGA - 1920x1200;
12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
Don't really know he difference. I don't care that much about this.
Build Quality and Design
13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
Of course... but function before fashion. I hate apple for this reason. I will not sacrifice my performance for a good looking design.

I want to buy it when i find the right laptop for me. I want it to last a few year.
Notebook Components

I want about 200 gigs, but honestly. I have docks for all my media and other important stuff.
16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?
A bluray would be sweet, but i do not pay for my media, and i do not see myself ever buying a bluray / needing one... ever. Standard DVD i would use though.
*********************************************************
So after reading the above i hope you guys have a better idea of what i want.
I have been looking at the dell Canada website and pricing out machines.
I am looking for a balance:
- Performance - it needs to be fast and responsive,
- Heat / Power management, when i am just browsing the internet i don't want to cook my jeans. Gaming will be done on a hard surface.
- Price- i am not paying 3000 bucks for a laptop.
- Battery - If i am in class, i do not want to fight for the only wall socket.
- Weight- I am a strong boy, but i am not lugging something like a W90 around all day. Keep the weight down.

I think the u80v would suit you better because:
1. HD4570 is more powerful than 105m gt.
2. For school, portability is important since you have to carry it from class to class and the u80v is a smaller laptop. -
The 4570 is MUCH better than the 105M. Both are pretty much similar in other cases. It's capable of playing Left4Dead at very comfortable settings and frame rates which is a bit doubtful with the 105M. Like Damaph said, the U80 is lighter and easier to carry around with almost half a kilo making a difference over the course of a long day. Battery life on both are quite similar by the sounds of it comparing this review with my experience with my U80, expect around 4.5 hours out of a full charge which is not bad at all. It really comes down to whether the extra inch of screen is worth hauling around a heavier laptop which is less able to play games.
U50V or U80V
