As I have an interest in removing the Atheros wifi card and replacing it with an Intel Wifi Link 1000, I would like to second the request for detailed information (+ photos/video, if available) on the disassembly of the UL80Vt-A1. Clearly some of us here have accomplished this feat, either through speculative ingenuity or insider knowledge. Surely it would benefit the community to share that knowledge?

no one on this thread so far has wanted to void their warenty. The U80a only required removing the keyboard to tap into power. If there were major case surgery there too I wouldn't have done it at all either.............

Maybe we should all give $5 towards someone's purchasing and dismantling one with copious documentation for posterity's sake?

I did see a video on youtube in which someone displayed the connection of the u80 keyboard to his ul80vt and it showed a wire form the keyboard going under the palm rest to the usb, but I don't see how it's possible to run the wire under there without somehow taking the case apart. The video did not display how that was done.

Unfortunately I don't know the pinout of the u80 keyboard and not sure how I would obtain that.

I'd like to see this happen... I'm trying to put one of these into my UL30VT, but with no prior modding or electrical skills, I'd at least like some sort of a tutorial before even thinking of attempting this.

Maybe OP can explain in detail how he routed power from his usb port to his KB?

I second this. I would really like to replace the atheros card. I took out all the screws and then I couldn't figure out how to take apart the lower assembly shell. Anyone can help?
