Alright well I'm trying to help out my sister here. What I think happened was she choose to install an optional windows update that installed an update to her video card but since it's a hybrid card something went wrong. Right now when I go to her device manager neither card is shown. I've tried to uninstall the default card that is shown in hopes that the hybrid card would reinstall on a reboot but that didn't work. I've also tried numerous times to download and install the original video card but that doesn't seem to work either. So right now I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions on something I could try?

Did you download the original driver straight from the ASUS support website? Sometimes the updated version direct from the manufacturer will cause issues or not run properly. What affect is this having on the performance of the machine?

I did download straight from the Asus website and ran it and it had no effect. The effect it is having is you can't switch graphics cards, you can't choose the highest resolution (the highest offered is like 800x600), and any application that requires graphic performance lags (hd youtube videos even).

If this didn't start happening until after the Windows update, have you tried restoring Windows to a previous setting (before the update) or a clean install of the OS and drivers? If that doesn't work, it is possible that it is hardware related and you might have a faulty card. At that point, you might contact ASUS or the reseller to see if they have any quick solutions or can setup an RMA.

I'm not sure if the windows update was actually the culprit as that's just what I'm assuming what happened since my sister was pretty clueless in explaining when or how it happened. And I've tried restoring to a previous setting but have yet to attempt a clean install.
