    Hey everyone
I got my wife a UL20A a few months back, and its been a great little system however there's a lot of flex and 'give' in the casing... it creaks when you press on it, there's a spot under the left palm area where it gives a nice plasticky snap... quite disappointing for ASUS build quality which i find usually superb.

Just wanted to see if anyone has had similar problems maybe in the UL30 which has a similar "cheap" feeling and whether there's any solutions... other than RMAing every few months :S

    Please let me know!

I don't own one so I can't say for sure, but similar models are held together in the palmrest area with tabs. There's not much you can do about this except make sure the screws are tight. There is a certain amount of flex that is normal, since it's just molded plastic.

It's the same case as their netbooks, so yeah ... a little disappointing when you get a bum unit. But a really nice computer!

You can "fix" the snap by putting some cardboard in as a reinforcement. Ghetto, but why not? It's not like it's visible.

Although the UL30 uses the same plastic chassis, it is surprisingly more sturdy than the UL20. Flex is minimal and there are definitely no creaking or snapping noises.
