    Hi,

i recently tried using flash beta 10.1 to watch youtube 720p videos and from what i see it's using over 50% of my cpu. It would be great if the video was smooth, but sometimes it gets little lagged/spiked. If i download that 720p video to desktop and play on MPC with DXVA support it runs really smooth and uses up to 20-25% CPU.

So, have anyone using flash 10.1 with Intel 4500MHD and can share experiences? I'm interested in CPU usage when playing 720p video on youtube.

    I have SU2300 version of my UL20A.

Try the following, although I don't guarantee it'll work:

    > Right click on the Youtube video
    > [Settings]
    > Uncheck: [Enable Hardware Acceleration]

same thing happens to me. I have the su7300 version and cpu hits 80-90% usage when playing 720P on youtube. however, downloaded 720p videos are just fine and uses much less.

When i uncheck hardware acceleration then cpu usage is above 80-90% so i guess it's working, but not as good as it should work. Thanks for tip. But anyway something is wrong. It's strange that when playing flash video it takes 60% of cpu but same downloaded file in MPC takes 20%.

I'm getting my lenovo u450p with SU4100 CPU in few days, so I will investigate it further. In the mean time, try youtube's new HTML5 based website which plays videos without flash player. See the difference and compare your results. I recall having my g50's p8600 @ 2.4ghz CPU stress similarLy to your discripton of the CPU usage. I think flash is poorly optimized and it most likely does not take advantage of the intel's new set of instructions. I might be wrong though...

    Best Regards, Leonid

Only flash optimalization comes to mind for me. HTML5 based YT have many bugs for now and dont support 720p from what i see, but i may be wrong. I hope in official 10.1 (not beta) they will improve performance.

I've received my lenovo U450P today with SU4100(2x core) and I've reinstalled windows 7 and made sure number of process active stayed under 35.

Anyways, I've tried youtube hmtl5 with Safari 4, but as you said not all videos work and I can confirm that.

Perhaps, I should try Chrome and Youtube html 5. Maybe the outcome will be somewhat satisfying.
