I am considering between to Asus laptops..

    UL30A-X5 and UL30A-A3B (I don't like the silver ones)

I like the price of the X5 but I keep hearing it has a 4400 battery where the A3B has the nicer 5600.

Does anyone know if they sell the 5600 battery that I can put in the X5?

Not sure if I'm really wanting to pay an extra $125 just to get a little larger battery, and lose a gig of memory (don't really care about XP Pro or Win7Pro)

And is there really that much of a difference between the 2 batteries?

I have the X5 and I can get a solid 8 hours on it of constant use (browsing internet, typing, youtube etc) with screen at half brightness (plenty bright for me). With the 5600mAh i hear that you can get upwards of 10 hours or so (you can search for it, I know it's been mentioned).

They also had a link on amazon but it appears to be missing...

Based on mAh, the larger battery would give you 20-25% greater runtime and this estimation is generally consistent when you look at relative runtime with 6/9 cell batteries and their mAh numbers.

The battery may not be available except on the secondary market - send a PM or email to one of the retailers here, Ken (GenTechPC), and he can let you know. Price for the 5600 itself is likely to be $75-125 if I had to guess, that's the price for most batteries.

Yup, I have the X5 and I have been getting around 6-9 .5 hrs.

If i have the setting on Office and doing excel , word with wifi on I am averaging 7-8 hrs.
I watched 2 movies( both over 2 hrs) and had wifi on. After the second movie, it said I had 4.32 hrs left.

The shortest time I have had is on performance setting, 1 movie, 2 hrs of surfing and doing 1.5 hrs of work - excel and it said 2.4 hrs left which means I am getting around 7 hrs

Truly amazing battery life, I never had anything that lasted this long, not even my netbook, which only gets around 4 hrs and its 11.6".

    Thanks guys,

This helps me be more comfortable getting the lower end battery now that I can always upgrade it if I want a spare

Consider the X4 which is sold by Newegg. It has the 5600 battery but a smaller HD (320), and is cheaper than the A3B.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know it's 5600 battery? The newegg specs are not specific.
