    Hi everyone,

As I am new here, I am not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this but it seems to be the best choice (maybe the accessory forum would work too, but I'm not positive).

I just got a UL30VT-A1 two weeks ago and as a student, because of the glossy screen, the glare on the screen was just overwhelming. The glare issue was even worse when I would sit near windows when the sun was beaming through or when I was sitting outside.

I have recently purchased an SGP Steinheil NB039 Anti-Glare screen protector
    http://www.sgpstore.com/product_inf...d/976?osCsid=0027552c9bb7b066e24d7f78f4dc667b
and it seems to do the trick for me (yes, I knew about the quality loss of using a screen protector, especially an anti-glare one). I bought this anti-glare screen protector from Amazon on blind faith since I could not find any in-depth reviews on this company or product (for the notebook market).

My question is, do any of you use this product or another product from this company? This anti-glare protector seems to do the trick for me but I'd like to know if there's another protector out there that is as good at removing the glare and possibly have less of an impact on picture quality. Again, this protector seems to work for me since I really have no other options at this time since companies like 3M and Green Onions make screen protectors designed for 16:10 widescreens while the UL30VT is a 16:9 (I believe this is the issue with the improper fit of most standard 13.3 inch widescreen protectors and this notebook).

    Thanks in advance for responses

How do you like that SGP screen protector? Can you elaborate a little bit more on it? Or better yet, can you post a picture of your laptop with this installed so I can actually see?

I am stuck between the thought of buying that same SGP protector or one on eBay from Hong Kong and it would be nice if I had some input as I'm having the same issue you are about finding reviews on any anti-glare protector that will fit this notebook.

Hmmm... 16:9 vs 16:10 screens, I didn't think about that being the issue with my fit issue, is this what the problem is with standard screen protectors?

For the 16:10 protectors, I'm assuming they're slightly larger than the screen on a 16:9, so couldn't you just use an exacto knife and a straight edge to cut it to the needed size?

The standard widescreen 13.3" protector was a little too tall as well as not wide enough. :(

jhyp, my install isn't the best in the world since it took me a couple tries to set correctly but the minor defect I made in the lower right corner usually can't be seen when the notebook is on as the taskbar pretty much camouflages it. It's a little depressing to have this on a $40 screen protector but it's not bad enough to lose sleep over as you can only notice it really when the screen is really dark or when the notebook is sleeping or off. It has a little bit of that "Anti-glare screen graininess" but I can live with it. It's nowhere near as bad as those older PDA anti-glare protectors where the grains were so big it was completely unbearable. For my present use (word, excel, powerpoint, web browsing, light gaming, legacy analysis software (xp mode), and minor photoshopping), I can live with it. I can sit with the sun beaming down behind me and still use it somewhat functionally.

I will attempt to get some pictures up soon

Does this make the already terrible viewing angles even worse? Or does it stay the same?

In my opinion, it actually made the vertical viewing angle better. I have a larger sweet spot now it seems. But the horizontal side to side viewing angles are pretty bad now. The angles looking from the side are maybe ~40-45 degrees each way now. I have had a couple classmates have to turn the notebook to be able to read it now. Before I installed the SGP, the viewing angles to the side weren't quite as bad it seems. :(

I second this. It's really interesting to see this "live".
