I've had the UL30VT-A1 over a month now. I recently bought a logitech z-5500 speaker set, hoping I could connect the ul30vt-a1 to it using SPDIF out. The specs page on amazon says this laptop has SPDIF out:
    http://www.amazon.com/UL30Vt-A1-Light-13-3-Inch-Silver-Laptop/dp/B0032FOKXS

I'm at a loss as to how to enable SPDIF out. First of all, is it an optical or coaxial output ? I bought a TOSLINK cable with a mini-TOSLINK adapter thinking it was an optical output. But no light comes on when the adapter is plugged in.

The other issue is that the software that lets you configure speaker settings (Realtek HD Audio Manager) doesn't seem to let you enable digital audio out anywhere.

So my first question is: does the UL30VT-A1 support SPDIF out ? Or was that an error in the specs on the amazon page ? The gentech specs page doesn't list SPDIF:

Second question: if SPDIF out is supported, is it optical or coaxial ?

Third question: how do I enable it ?

    Thank you.
