So I've been eying this laptop for about 3 months and I think I am ready to pull the trigger. I was going to wait on the i3/i5 series of ULVs but it appears that the performance upgrade will be minimal and at the expense of battery life.

So to me the ASUS UL30Vt-A1 seems like the perfect laptop.

I'm not in a major rush, however, and could wait if there is the possibility of major savings (I wouldn't wait if it was less than $50).

So with all that said here are my 3 questions...

    1. Where is the best place to buy the ASUS UL30Vt-A1? (Keep in mind that Amazon charges 6% tax in my area).

    2. When is the best time to buy?

    3. What's your guesstimate on the amount of savings/markdown on these when the new i3/i5 ULV hit the market next month?

    1. Check the Asus Info Booth Sticky for a list of reputable resellers. I purchased my UL30VT-A1 from GenTechPC and couldn't be happier.

    2. Best time to buy is when you need it. Technology advances constantly and if you're going to wait for the next upcoming release of a new laptop, there's always going to be an even newer/faster/slimmer/cooler one just around the corner.

    3. If the UL30VT is still in stock when the new refresh is available, then Asus will usually offer a rebate. Given the MSRP and past rebate offers, I'd speculate a rebate amount of $50-$100.

The best price I have found is $739 with 5% bing cashback.

So we're looking at about $702 with $3 shipping.

$705 doesn't sound too bad for this laptop.
