Its not showing as in stock directly from amazon, just from another seller for about 1000 dlls...
I was wondering how many units they had since its clear that this is a very popular laptop and it lasted for quite a while in amazon.
Luckily I got mine in timehope everyone else who wanted one got it too!
Cheers

Haha...it figures. I was on the fence a bit about ordering this. I decided a couple of hours ago while at dinner to get it and here I am now.
Oh well, it probably shouldn't take too long for stock to get replenished. Hopefully there will be a $100 gift card along with it when it comes back. -

i can't wait for arrandale to come to these ULs

Uh, arrandale will consume at least 2x the power at peak, and a key feature to these laptops are that they are low power and long lasting. I don't think we'll see arrandale featured in this line any time soon.

Wow... I just ordered one late last night (to be shipped to my brother in the US then back to Canada).
-
well when they restock amazon.com, how about sending some to amazon.ca while they're at it. it's hard waiting when asus gives no release date.
-
The 3rd party sellers at Amazon will jack up the price of the UL30vt if they haven't already. We are using an interesting trick a friend told us about that alerted us within seconds of when a laptop we were looking for came back in stock at Amazon, at the REGULAR retail price. It's free and you could use it for anything. It runs in the background on your computer, and actually monitors stock at Amazon, and sounds an alarm the moment your item comes back in stock. We're using it to watch for some accessories. It's at www.azproductsnatcher.com
-
Yeah. We were using that website until a friend told me they had an even faster way of doing it. Appears the same, but www.azgizmo.com seems to have the edge when it comes to actually getting out of stock items at Amazon. You may want to give it a try for those harder to get items. Pretty slick concept too. Set it... and then forget it until the product is made available.

How about a SILVER version now asus? =D

Not a fan of silver, for some reason they always remind me of that standard silver DELL you can can find on every corner across campus. Though now you probably see more macbooks and HPs... So I like the black asus

Second. I'm a fan of the black myself. It's far more classy looking.

Silver is much nicer. Surprisingly I saw someone with a UL30 at school today... damn it was sexy... I just stood there staring at it for a while.
I am very familiar with how tacky black glossy plastic looks, and I'm not gonna make that mistake again. No more fingerprints! Silver FTW. -
I own the UL30VT and actually really like the black. It doesn't look cheap, I think of it as a piano black that they use in high end stuff. True it shows fingerprints but they wipe right off and the silver makes it look too much like a Macbook.

Darn, I put my 13" Macbook Pro with the intention of getting this UL30VT. My auction doesn't actually end until Saturday morning so hopefully Amazon will have some more in stock by then.

It would probably be best to test the UL30Vt first before selling your MBP. If for some reason you don't like the UL30Vt, you can return it. Once the MBP is sold, re-acquiring it will be expensive (unless you're selling it at a profit).

I have just pre ordered it...
-
I don't know if pre-orders lock you into the current price or not, but I would think so, and that if the price changes between now and the time it comes back in stock, it could be advantageous to order exactly when new stock is received by Amazon.
If so, something I've been using to monitor Amazon stock could help. I think I mentioned this elsewhere, maybe buried in this thread.
www.azproductsnatcher.com monitors Amazon stock for items that come back in stock. There's no cost, it monitors stock at Amazon every few seconds and alerts you when the item you are tracking becomes available.
Anyway, in case it helps... -
I would probably run eyeItForMe in parallel with one of the 3 clone checkers just so you have two algorithms going... though eyeItForMe has been good to me
UL30vt finally out of stock from amazon :P
