    Hi Everyone,

I am looking at getting either the UL50 or UL80. I really need dual drives though, I need to have an SSD as my primary running the OS, etc and a regular 7200rpm HDD as the secondary for files, dbs, etc.

Can I have a dual ssd/hdd configuration with these machines, possibly with replacing the optical drive which I don't have a use for anyways, actually I think it should always be an option available to not get an optical drive anymore, you use it like once or twice to install some software but I'd just use an external CD/DVD drive for that, I rather use that space in a laptop for either a second HDD/SSD or to make the machine thinner/lighter...

If I can replace the optical drive in either the UL50 or UL80 do you know where I can get a drive caddy (not sure if it is called that).

Thanks in advance for any input.

    /Bruno

I just got one of those caddy from ebay
NEW SATA 2nd HDD caddy for 12.7mm Universal CD/DVD-ROM - eBay (item 300449917017 end time Sep-24-10 02:56:45 PDT)
It works in my G50, but in my UL50 the hard drive just spins at startup and stops when windows is loaded. I've no idea why, since at first windows would try to install the drivers for the harddrive, but it would fail halfway and says "device unplugged". It's quite puzzling, maybe the optical bay in UL50 is not designed to handle the power requirement of another HDD?
