    heya guys :D , I just bought an asus UL50VT with the SU7300 processor and the G210M 512MB Gddr3 with 2GB RAM GDDR3. Win 7 home premium 64bit.

as you all know, that this notebook have the capability to OC the processor from 1.3ghz to a 2.13 ghz using the Asus Program Power4gear. Well my friend already maximize everything in the program and turn on the TURBO but the processor only reach the max of 1.77Ghz. This can be detect by using CPUID 64-bit.

my question here is that, how to OC the processor so that it will stay at 2.13ghz ??? do I have to upgrade the notebook to 4GB ram?? and is the OCing to 2.13ghz will make it permanent?? I know that i have to start some program in order to make it boost but after playing a game (L4D) i use Alt-TAb to check on the CPUID and the processor still stay 1.77ghz only.

... I bought the notebook because I believes that the processor can be oc to 2.13ghz since the notebook price are fairly reasonable and is a good entry-level to gaming in PC for my nephew.

p/s: there's no other places to ask since the shop that the notebook i bought for have ZERO knowledge on how to properly OC the notebook, any help would be kindly appreciated!!! :D

Where are you seeing the SU7300 can be overclocked to 2.13GHz? AFAIK, the Turbo33 software can only overclock the CPU 33% faster from stock frequencies. 1.3GHz x 1.33 = 1.7GHz.

If you want to overclock the CPU further, you'll most likely need SetFSB or other similar CPU overclocking utilities.

The Intel SU7300 processor only has 2 states which corresponds to a multiplier of 4x and 6.5x. Without Turbo33, the FSB is only 200MHz which means a CPU speed of 800MHz (4x) and 1.30GHz (6.5x). With Turbo33 enabled, the FSB goes up to 266MHz which means a CPU speed of 1066MHz (4x) and 1.73GHz (6.5x).

The reviewer in that link made an error regarding the 2133MHz speed of the processor. Actually, the error is with Cpu-Z he used in the review. Older versions of Cpu-Z reported the wrong multiplier, so the 8x is supposed to be 4x. Therefore, the 2133MHz (8x) speed he got was supposed to be 1066MHz (4x). This bug has been fixed in version 1.53, so the latest version of Cpu-Z now correctly reports the multiplier as 4x and not 8x.

Since the processor is already overclocked from 1.30GHz to 1.73GHz in Turbo33 mode, I wouldn't overclock it any further than that unless you want your notebook to die quicker. While the processor may still be able to go faster, the lack of proper cooling inside the notebook will shorten the life of the CPU considerably.

The 5% OC in the BIOS (plus the turbo33) gets the SU7300 up to 2.13 GHz in the UL80VT. Pretty common knowledge for those that own that model.

I'm afraid it's common misguided knowledge. The CPU never ever reaches 2.13GHz on the ULxxVT. Just read my previous post which explains why. Furthermore, the 5% OC does not increase performance in any significant way on the UL80VT. Try benchmarking it with 0% OC then with 5% OC, then draw your own conclusions. And if anyone believes that 5% OC can increase CPU speed from 1.73GHz to 2.13GHz, then s/he needs to brush up on their math skills. If the 5% OC indeed does work as it's supposed to (which it does not), then the CPU speed would be 1.82GHz and nowhere near 2.13GHz.
