8 gb or 4 gb max? -would like to know before i order...![]()
should i get 4 gigs of fast memory or 8 gb of slightly slower memory?
right now i'm having a bit of trouble with SC II
i am running my gpu @ 750.1875.900 and cpu @ 1906. I would like to go higher than 1906
It seems like high or medium settings really don't make a whole lot of difference. I think maybe it's the CPU letting me down... any ideas?
maybe I should try going back to 186 and see how it looks.
i am running the 258 modded drivers

would like to know... want to order from the egg soon

My understanding of SC2 is that it is extremely processor-intensive and not very GPU-intensive...just look at the sys. req's. Our GPUs, even at stock clocks, should easily handle all of the graphical detail even on max settings. The problem lies with the underpowered processor.
Please let us know how the game runs for you, because I am interested in the game, heard a lot of great things, but don't know if my ul50vt can handle it. -
Your ram speed is not going to have a significant impact on framerate.
Buy 4 gigs of desent ram and you are good to go. No game out there that benefits from having >4Gb ram. -
Agreed, the 4gb DDR3 1066 ram that came with UL50 is more than enough for any games. Also G210m is pretty anemic when it comes to gaming. Even if you managed to get your cpu past 2GHz, you'll still get bottlenecked by the 16 cuda cores.
I played SC2 beta with my UL50vt with similar setting as OP's, and can manage 30-40 fps on medium settings. However when swarms of zergs are being rendered, it drops to low 20's. -
i just want to know if it can take 8 gb or not

Not to mention that while you can put 1333 memory in your ul50 the CPU is bottlenecked at 1066. The RAM would clock down at 1066 anyway. I second the motion of 4gb of 1066. For gaming and only gaming it is the most logical choice. Not that it affects games all that much but if you want to see an overall system improvement put your upgrade money into an ssd.

.... I ahve the FSB already overclocked to 1173... i think with 1333 I can push further.
I just would like to know IF the laptop can support 8 GB or not -

Oh then yes it will handle 8gb of RAM just fine. We offer this as an option on our machines so you should be fine.

are you sure? every site i saw lists 4 gb as max capacity.
