Hi all, I've recently purchased an UL80 and the back cover gave me a little electrical biting when I inserted the battery, is this normal?

Please excuse me if I used the wrong terms! :p

Are you using a 2 or 3 prong power plug?

While plugged in I can feel the electric current as I run my fingers through the aluminum lid. Not sure if this is normal.

This should not be normal in any consumer products.

It is just the laptop charging you before it charges the system..... :) all kidding aside that is a major issue.............

Product defect, return it asap! No laptops should ever be doing that under any normal circumstances.

Not necessarily, hence I previously asked if the OP had a 2 or 3 prong power plug. If it's a 2 prong, then it could be a grounding issue which a 3 prong plug can solve.

Really? I believe I experienced the same issue with the first one I bought and returned. It's sort of like a slight vibration feeling while running my fingers along the lid. This one uses the 3 prongs by the way. I suppose I should contact Asus since my lcd has a stuck/dead pixel anyway and my palmrest is creaking loudly due to the separation of the top and bottom pieces. I'm really disappointed with the build quality of this model.
