I took the old beast apart last night. Its been through so much that I wouldnt have expected any laptop to survive 7 years, asus for life. Unlike the 3 apples I own all of which have failed during and after warranty in one way or another.
Anyway I took it apart, blew the fan out with pressured air, took it apart wiped it out, blew the mobo underside out which was dusty and got rid of any dust balls which had piled up around the fan exit, when putting back together I snapped the plug that keeps what I think is the "fast boot", so I have no way of keeping the metal on the ribbon on the pins on the mobo. But I cant see how that NFC would effect my keyboard.
Everything else is working fine and running software, Ive gone from maximum CPU usage and heat to 40 degrees celcius and normal CPU usage. Prior just running firefox would send the CPU into 85% perma, and of course the fan and bottom of lappy would run red hot.
Im not a tech but have taken apart other lappies but think Ive broken this one doing so. Everything including usb mouse works. Just the Keyboard is gone.
Any ideas how to fix keyboard? Id take pics but dont have a phone on me at the mo.
Thanks all.
