A couple days ago my computer started having problems with Hibernate mode. Basically it started taking 2 minutes to hibernate, then it would take 11-12 minutes to come out of hibernate mode. At least 3-4 minutes before the login screen appeared, then once the desktop appeared everything would be frozen/not responding for another 7-8 minutes, and at the end the wifi was disabled. Only way to restore the wifi was to go through the network diagnostics.
I tried a bunch of things, removing the wifi adapter in the system and reinstalling it, reinstalling the Power4Gear software, reinstalling the Wireless Console 3, ran SFC, ran Checkdisk, virus scanners etc.
I just had a breakthrough.
After reinstalling Power4Gear I did not finish customizing all the different setups. Under High Performance it was set as "Lid close action- Plugged in: Hibernate". Well, I thought it was set to "Do nothing", closed the lid while I had dinner expecting it to stay running, it went into hibernate mode perfectly. Came out of hibernate mode correctly, the wifi started up, all was well.
It has been very repeatable. The problem only occurs when hit the "Fn+F1" sleep button. I changed other power plan settings for "Lid close action" to Hibernate, and it will hibernate properly when I close the lid, but not when I use the Sleep Button.
Unfortunately I sometimes use this computer with my TV so having the ability to close the screen and stay running is something I would like to keep. But I want to use the Hibernate function.
Does anyone know what is going wrong? How to fix it?

Try running a disk check (chkdsk). Also try running memtest86+ through a few passes.
If neither of these fixes it, it may require a complete (possibly by hand using regedit) removal of power4gear and then reinstall p4g. -
Possible related- I cannot install, uninstall or repair Power4Gear hybrid.
When I tried uninstalling it it starts, then I get a message
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
When I close the installer I get "Fatal installer error".
Does not matter if I use the Windows Programs installer or the Asus P4G installer. P4G is partly uninstaled (it does not appear as an option anywhere). I tried installing a newer version of P4G and get told a previous version is installed and I should remove it first.
Oh, and restoring to an old System Restore point did not fix this. -

Yeah it may require manual removal if a repair or uninstall won't work. Try a chkdsk first though, it could just have corrupted files. It's probably safe to skip the memtest since it's obvious p4g has become broken.

Can you (or anyone) please let me know how to remove it manually? I tried Ccleaner and it puked, I thought I could try it in Safe Mode but apparently the Windows installer will not run in safe mode.
If I have to manually edit the registry I can do that, but tell me what I should delete. -
This problem happened to me once (n50, reformat, couple of P4G reinstalls due to problems with sidebar setting when installing it and it decided not to like some version of P4G), your only options that i know of are to manually remove everything P4G related or reformat and reinstall.
EDIT: I don't know what you have to delete in regedit, the day after i got that problem, i got a sweet student deal on a windows 7 pro upgrade so i did a clean install of 7 pro over vista and everything worked fine.
