Which CPU is a better upgrade for the Asus G51vx RX05. I can get them both for the same price but i am not sure which one is the best for this laptop.

I know they are equal in performance but will there be any room for OC'ing the x9100 on this laptop with my cryo cooler which will make it better than the t9900.

Or is the T9900 just a better overall cpu for my setup.

will i be able to OC it as well. Or is that not gonna be necessary.

Cuz my X7800 runnig at 3.0ghz is blazing fast and i would to OC the CPU if it will make a big diffrence with the x9100.

You can overclock both, but only through FSB, not multiplier manipulation.

Which basically kills the main advantage of the X9100. If you can get them for the same price, I'd vote for the T9900.

With SetFsb I can OC my T9900 up to 3.6Ghz.
They perform equally but not all CPU's perform as equals .

    Same price? T9900.

If the T9900 is even $50 more expensive, I would go with the X9100.

    Careful bro.
Don't get all OC happywhen you first upgrade. Not every CPU can handle the same OC.I would suggest you start small and work your way In small incriments.Unless you want to spend a lot of time recovering from BSODing.

Have the T9900 in my G51vx-RX05 and it made a huge difference over the stock CPU. Also I overclock it to 3.4 for games with SetFSB, beyond that it crashes Bad Company 2. I've never tried to overclock beyond 3.5 just running in windows, but it might be able to go further. Just never seen the need to do that.. yet.

T9900 vote -- just because it runs cooler for same performance in Asus

Nice, yea i am running my X7800 at 3.0GHZ and it is running every game especially CPU dependent games like BC2 fantastically.

And i will not get a CPU if i cannot OC it. I love to OC so if the T9900 runs cooler and can be OC as far as the X9100 and is just as fast then i don't see why i should not get it. And by the looks of it most ppl can get it to 3.5 so that's what i'll be shooting for once i get it :).

Does anyone know if the T9900 will work in a G50V-A2? Are there any bios conflicts?

    Yes it will.
No need for a new BIOS or anything, basic plug and play.

Just one thing... why can't u get T9600 and overclock it? You can easily reach T9900 performance levels and save $100+...

Or even a certain E8335 can bump you to 2.93 GHz for under $250 usually
