    Dear all

I have a 2 month Asus UX31E and i'm having a weird keyboard issue. Whenever I press the SHIFT keys, it displays weird characters like 6{/.l on right shift and VP..o on the left Shift.
I factory restored, reinstalled by wiping the ssd, but I still got the same problem. Have anyone run into something similar and found a solution?

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you are stuck in symbol mode. Make sure you display language is set to English as well.

If you've done so, most likely your install is corrupted by a malware/virus.

Please try to boot the machine into Safemode (Press F8 during startup) and see if the problem persists in there. You can also try to restore to factory settings with a backup recovery disc. Something else to note, it may be an issue Windows font cache.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for your answer. The language is set at english, but i can't seem to find what's stuck in symbol mode. How can i check if it's stuck in symbol mode?
I restored to factory settings, and even wiped the hard drive and reinstalled from a clean WIN 7 disk.

    Thanks in advance,
    Luis
Haven't been able to book linux to see if it's a hardware issue.
