    Greetings,

This is my first post on this forum, and please forgive me if it is not appropriate. I have had a look at forum rules as well as the owner's lounge, but did not find a thread related to this issue.

My Ultrabook is relatively new, as it was purchased in January of this year. It has not had many problems. However, it has been acting up strangely ever since I arrived in China a little more than a week ago. Here, I do not access wifi, and I use the ethernet adapter included. As well, the power is 220V.

The problem is that I cannot shut off the Ultrabook properly. Every time I click shut down, it appears as if the computer goes to sleep. In other words, the screen is black, the power button remains lit, and so is the power indicator to the right side of the laptop. In this state, I cannot wake up the ultrabook. Pressing the power button does nothing, and neither does closing or opening the lid. The only option is to long press the power button until it powers off completely, until it can be powered up again. May I ask you for your help and advice with regards to this problem? I realize that it is still under warranty, but I am in China and my receipt and box etc is in Canada. Also, the ASUS online chat is of no use at all.

I have included a few of the minidump files for those that are interested.

Many thanks for reviewing this post.

Welcome to the forum. I am on ubuntu so can not see the dump files, but have you tried any of the suggestions here: windows 8 laptop not shutdown - Microsoft Community

Also have you removed any of the unneeded programs that ASUS normally installs on their systems?

Just to test you could configure your power button action to perform a shutdown.

Check for any misbehaving applications in the task manager too.
