    Hello friends.
    I am having a bad day ):
I went ahead and bought an Asus Zenbook UX31A from someone on Craigslist.
    He seemed so nice!

He was upfront about the "missing Hard Drive". I asked him very clearly: "all I need is to get an mSATA SSD"?
    Of course, he said YES.

Now I am home, and I already bought an mSATA SSD Online, but I am doing some Googling, and I see that this model of the Zenbook does NOT have a regular mSATA SSD, but a proprietary connection SSD.

    Am I X?
    That's it?

I should also mention that this Zenbook is only 2 months old, and covered by Asus Accidental Damage Warranty (or whatever they call it).

    Please - your advice.
    Thank you!

In one thread I read the SSD is soldered to the MB ??? I would look into returning the unit to the crook on Craig's list. AFA the mSATA SSD I would return it also unless you plan to acquire a different unit that it will work in.
    Sorry to hear about this!

Well if your Asus were to accidently get dropped... Replacement. But they will not replace it if you just have missing parts. Also, I'm not positive about Asus' coverage, but some Ultra-books (like my Razer r1 for example) have their warranty's voided if the machine has been opened. My advice would just be patient, send back/ cancel mSATA order, and get the correct part if you cannot return the machine to the seller.

Well, if the SSD is "missing", that would imply it was removed, and I believe to get to the drive on this model requires exposing the board (taking off the backing), so that would void the warranty; not to mention that I don't think the warranty is transferable anyway. So, IF he happened to register the unit under his info before selling it, Asus will probably not support you (you will need to inquire about that to be sure though).

See this thread for info on the SSD (essentially, it is a low profile SSD, which is harder to find than a regular SSD).
