There is definite improvement in the accuracy of clicking. Before when I went to click, the sensitivity of the touchpad was slide the arrow off of the object I was trying to click. This has been greatly reduced. Anything else anyone has noticed?

EDIT: Scrolling and, even more so, zooming, has been dramatically improved. Thank god.

You would be stupid not to install the new Asus Smart Gesture. It's great.

Idk if the Smart Gesture drivers are the same for the UX31A and the UX32VD, but these drivers are horrible. Somehow, they broke my 3 finger swipe back/forward funtionality in FF.

Same to me! Touchpad / gestures are much more responsive.I think its a big improvement. But my 3 finger swipe back/forward funtionality in FF is broken too....and that is a catastrophe !

Any solution for the FF issue? I tried a few things in "about:config" like to set "ui.elantech_gesture_hacks.enabled"=0 ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=593372 )..but still broken :(

Another thing are the volume buttons. It is very annoying to have to use the FN keytoo to change the volume. So I use a program called 3RVX : You are able to change the volume pressing the WIN key and scrolling with the touchpad. Problem is since the driver update this function is broken if focus is on Windows Desktop or Windows Explorer. I tested a alternative program called volume2, same problem...

By the way: Does anybody know the manufactor of the touchpad (elan, synaptics, alps etc...)

Tried them, went back to elantech drivers. Scrolling was improved on these latest asus drivers but still feels off when the scroll comes to a stop. Scrolling on the elantech driver is just top notch in comparison.

Still some work to do, Asus.

I use elantech with touchfreeze and see zero difference by going to asus.

Trying the latest driver now, and will be going back to Elantech 10.5.5.0 soon.

The scrolling works better than the last version of the asus driver, but still not perfect. When I scroll and let go, it will keep on scrolling for a bit (inertial scrolling, nothing weird), but when I let go the scroll speed increases quite a bit, so it is not natural at all. Don't know if there maybe is a fix för this?

I also have become dependent on three-finger-tap and can not find a way to enable this in the asus driver.

Other than these matters the driver works good. Palm detection, multigestures work almost flawless, and I almoste never accidently tap anything on the pad.

I find Elantech's drivers to provide marginally better scrolling, but far inferior palm detection even with the TouchFreeze combo.

Idk about palm detection because I have not really had the chance to use that feature, but scrolling and finger gestures are definitely better on the latest ELAN drivers (10.5.10.0). Plus, like I previously said, the Smart Gesture drivers break the 3-finger swipe back/forward in FF.

I removed smart gesture drivers/program and my Hitachi HDD stopped clicking. Also, the fan is much quieter and runs cooler now. Performance of my Zenbook improved dramatically after driver’s removal. I can’t use all features of the touch pad now, but most important features are working. Is there any generic version of Smart Gesture for ASUS UX31a? I’m getting tired of this ultrabook. There are too many issues.
