    Hey Guys,

I have done a fresh installation last time and I did that via the Microsoft Windows 7 disc. Now I am unable to use my laptop because my trackpad doesn't react whatsoever even after I had installed SmartGesture from the official ASUS drivers website. The only way I can use this laptop is via an external mouse.

Is there anybody who is willing to help me out by making me a recovery disc please?? I need a fresh installation for my UX31A but I accidentally reformatted my hard drive last time and lost my AI Recovery and all other associated ASUS drivers... That would be really great if somebody could upload me an .iso or perhaps burn a CD/DVD for it. I'd pay you via paypal if you'd send me a disc.

Please help a fellow of yours... help is much appreciated!

    Happy holidays in advance!

If somebody here can't get you the Recovery .iso specifically, then try contacting Asus technical support. They'll most likely charge you, but they may at least provide you with a physical disc instead of a .iso download (unless you prefer the latter, which they should also be able to do).

yes...I called them today but the tech counselors tools me is that they no longer provide us with the recovery disc and therefore I'd have to buy tech support in order to be helped... called and talked to 3 differentt people from Asus today and none of them are willing to let me talk to the tech guys a sec...

Could anyone please please please make me an iso please?

That's an unfortunate. Asus used to have a good after-sale support but that seems has changed now. I just ordered a ux32vd and I am planning to upgrade the HDD to an SSD. I hope moving the system to the new drive will go smoothly.

I think Asus clients should reflect this low level support in the feedback on Asus products in online user reviews. A continuous low mark may very possibly prompt Asus to improve their support system.

I highly advise looking at aftermarket upgrade topics here on the forums to get some insight before you do that. It's not that it's a nightmare of a process, but a lot of users have been met with difficulty; some not quite so much. Poke around and ask questions if you have any! There's a lot of good Q & A here.

gipfeli - have you tried different drivers? If the touchpad is the only thing giving you problems, then you may be able to resolve it without the need for a recovery or format + reload of Windows. I'm sorry nobody here has provided a recovery .iso for you. Is your laptop out of warranty? If not, I don't understand why Asus isn't willing to help you.

Yes, the touchpad is actually the only thing that is not working. I usually always resolve problems that exist on their own without doing any reformatting, however, for the past 2 months I haven't been able to use the laptop because it would not "accept" the drivers that come from the official ASUS website (SmartGesture). My zenbook has been sitting in the corner for the past month simply because I can't use it unless I'm bringing my external mouse with me to everywhere I go... it's stupid...
I've called ASUS support a couple of times and apparently they're really strict now with all this. They would only transfer me to tech support when I give them my serial number so they can check whether I have paid for tech support. I told them I do not need tech support as I just want to ask the guys as to WHY the drivers do not work on a fresh Windows 7 copy. Getting back to your question: yes, I do have warranty. The problem though is that they said AND emphasised that if I were to send my laptop in and they find out that it is not a hardware issue, they will charge me for tech support service since it is something I could have done over the phone via tech support. A-holes, period. I'm absolutely stunned and speechless by ASUS.

Is there any physical or liquid damage? Sometimes damage to the chip will inhibit the signal, therefore preventing even the driver from loading properly.

If your laptop is covered under their accidental warranty, then that seems extreme. But if not, then I can understand why they would insist on charging you.
