    Hello All,

I have recently upgraded the factory installed Win 8 on my Asus Zenbook UX31A to Win Blue beta. I decided to restore my laptop back to factory installation and settings. However recovery option in Win Blue re-installs itself only. I tried to boot recovery with F9 with no success. It appeared that the computer boots into recovery but then back to main boot screen.

I haven't deleted any of the original partitions including recovery, restore etc. They are all on the disk.

Please advise how I can do it.

    Thanks.

    Selim

    Hey Selim,

So the Asus recovery did not complete? Did you make a recovery drive first? I believe you need to do that to use the F9 option for initiating the recovery.

    To create a recovery drive:

    1) Go to start screen
    2) type "drive recovery" in search screen - choose settings tab in search screen
    3) click on "create a recovery drive"
    4) Insert a 16GB drive.

Unfortunately not earlier. I did it now. It created a bootable USB but it is created only with small amount of files (256 MB). Then I started the computer booting to this USB but again the same issue. The recovery seems starting but ends prematurely with the Windows logo and falls back to main boot screen.

You used a 16 GB drive (or greater), right? It should have copied over more than that. Hmm... Also, you should still be hitting F9 while the USB drive is inserted, not booting off the drive. We had a similar conundrum with a UX32VD a few months ago.
