So I tried to plug in the charger at 99% and 3 minutes later it went up to 100%. Does that mean that if I leave the charger plugged in it is going to slowly kill my battery? is there any software that I can download to instruct the computer to stop charging until it falls below a certain percentage?

No, your battery will not keep charging if you keep it plugged in. On my UX21 I was also wondering about this since you can't take the battery out. But what happens is that the charging "disconnect" after a while...and if you hold your mouse over the charging symbol you will sometimes see as a result from this that the battery go down to 99% or 98% with charger connected.
Then it charge it up again, and disconnect again...nothing to worry about. -
Hello my name is Jeffrey and I work for ASUS Customer Loyalty Team
UX21 is correct. Because the zenbook battery is not removable once your battery gets to 100% the led light on the power adapter will change from orange to green and it will stop charging the battery
Now your laptop is on ac power until you remove it.
But we do suggest to drain the battery completely and charging it fully to extend the life of the battery for as long as possible. -
I realize this thread is a little old, but I did a clean install of WIn7 on my UX31A, and if I hover over the battery, I just get "Fully Charged (100%). Previous to reinstalling Windows, it would say "98%, not charging." The AC Adapter still turns green, but if I was on ac power, then Windows should realize that I change the message, correct?
Does anyone know what software I need to install to bring back that feature? I have tried Power4Gear and Asus Power Option, but neither changed anything. Thanks! -

As long as your tray notification shows that the battery is "charged" when it's at 100%, and reflects your power status accurately in any other case, then all should be well. -

Hi qfn123,
Your questions are very reasonable and Ill answer with what I do know from my practice.
Nope, your battery will be fine. The Lithium-Ion battery has 2, 3 or 4 protection circuits against overcharging. Without them there will be Ka-boom and nice fire
.
I dont know for such application. I would like too to be able to change the logic of the charger according to my needs. You can use HWMonitor to check the current battery status.
The Lithium-ion battery provides ~ 500 charge/discharge cycles or ~ 2.5 years of use. The cells life is about 3 years from the time of its production.
Ive bought my Asus C90S in 2007 with an original Asus spare battery. In 2009 the primary battery stops holding the charge and was replaced with the second one the spare from 2007 (brand new). It works for about 5 months. Then I bought another one from Asus's Estore in 2011 and its life was ~ 6 months
. Why the last two new batteries had had so short life? The answer is in the previous paragraph. For me the laptop batteries are the weakest part in our systems.

Here's some info on battery calibration: BatteryCare - Proper laptop battery usage guide -
my problem is a bit on the other side. the light on the adapter turns to green when the battery is charged ~95. after charged fully, it writes: 100% available (plugged in, charging). also, after 99% charged, it takes more then 15 minutes to become fully charged. In any case, i don't know what to do
UX31A wont stop charging even at 100%?
