One night, my laptop decided to randomly reboot and when I woke up in the morning, I found it sitting in the BIOS. Windows automatically starts Automatic Repair and fails. Long story short, it can't find my Windows installation, even though I see the directory structure just fine in the command prompt. I run a chkdsk and see that there's a whole bunch of unreadable file record segments.
In the event I need a replacement SSD, where can I buy this from? ebay and everywhere else looks to be a million bucks for a machine that isn't worth much these days. I contacted Asus supported, but they wanted me to ship my machine to them, have them install the SSD, yada yada yada... They wouldn't sell it to me directly. I'd rather avoid the hassle of sending it in just to have a 30 second job done on it.

Download Parted Magic ISO ,burn to disc or usbstick.
Try doing a secure erase on the drive before you buy another ssd and while the current ssd is still working
