Yesterday my UX32 just suddenly ran into a black screen issue... I use it at home with a monitor connected with HDMI cable, and at school I use it with its own screen... I've been doing this for three weeks with no problems.

When I disconnected it from the monitor (which works fine) and took it to school yesterday, I just can't get it to work. The screen went black no matter what I do. Then I went home, plug in the hdmi, and restart it, the monitor works fine.

I tried to switch to duplicated screens mode, but only the monitor works. I thought it is a driver issue because apparently a lot ppl have a black screen issue when I google it, so I reboot my laptop to security mode by changing the boot option. Didn't work. Whats worse is that the security mode doesn't support external monitor, so now I can't do anything...

Does anyone have this problem? I think my Windows might have installed an update but I am not very sure.

The default screen might tried to work since the color switches between completely black and grey sometimes...

Would this be a hardware issue? I bought my laptop about 2 months ago. How's ASUS's warranty service?

As long as the screen, lamp, or LCD inverter didn't go out, your built-in screen should be fine. Did you use the FN toggle on the keyboard to change the output source?

Well I tried everything to check it out, and I think it is a screen hardware problem... Just sent it to RMA yesterday

My WLAN card and RAM was upgraded by reseller when I bought it, would it affect my warranty?

It won't affect your warranty, but you better make a note of it for Asus. There have been instances where they replaced the upgraded components with stock hardware during repairs, so just make sure you get said upgrades back!
