Hi, I am planning to update my BIOS to 212. I have the UX32A. I currently have the 206 version, there was a 211 version released and also just now a 212. I haven't been keeping up with Asus updates because I relied on the ASUS Live Update utility, which never seems to be picking up updates!

Today I went on the Asus site and updated a bunch of stuff, now I am thinking of updating the BIOS.

    1) Can I go from ver. 206 to 212, skipping 211? Essentially, can I update my BIOS to two versions ahead or must this be done in order?

    2) I plan on using WinFlash to do this, so do I just download the update from the website, and browse it with WinFlash, and follow the on screen instructions?

    Thank you!

This firmware has the lamest release note i've ever seen. :)

    "1.Fix the bug
    2.Update GOP driver"

But at least they have fixed something. (too bad it wasn't the fan control policy)

So should I go for it? I heard 'don't update your BIOS unless you need to'. But I want to update it lol, it might fix some stuff.
Nothing other than browsing the file with WinFlash is required correct? It's my first time flashing the BIOS!! Don't want to brick the computer or anything. I've backed up my stuff in case, and I am not using a USB method to flash the bios, just doing it straight from WinFlash..

Just use winflash. It's quick, safe, and easy. I've flashed my UX32VD about 4 times now with no issue.

Warning: What will happen after shutdown: When you will press the power button, the hd will spin up, and then immediately shutdown. Don't get scared, this is what is supposed to happen. Press the power button again, and it will boot just fine.

Is it just me, or does "Fix the bug" sound more like a to-do than an already-did....?

Say I have a new UX32A - but cannot enter BIOS upon bootup! I completed the Preinstall of WIndows 8 (as porvided on the HD) and ran it all the way through and can boot to WINDOWS 8 and login fine. And the start-up seems normal to me (no errors)

However i seem to be locked out of entering BIOS menu as soon as I power up.
    I've tried F2 + Power on
    F8 + Power on
    Del + Power ON
    ESC + Power on

Then I tried.... Power on....and as soon as white ASUS logo appears, then press and hold F2 (or alternatively same method press and hold F8 and alternatively Press and hold DEL ) not any of those 4 work

none of these seem to work.. the system just keeps booting to Windows and to the Windows 8 login screen, and ignoring my keystrokes to get into BIOS menu

How do I get to the BIOS Menu from Power up? Has the WIN 8 completion of Pre-install locked me out?

    What gives?
I want to make some changes to BIOS bootup menu - so I can pull the spinner drive and replace with full 256GB SSD drive (7mm)

But don't want to swap drives until I can do this in BIOS as suggested on the support page of ASUS site for this model:
    " Solution
Please enter the BIOS (press and hold F2 key when power on). Switch to “Boot” and set “Launch CSM” to Enabled. Then switch to “Security” and set “Secure Boot Control” to Disabled. Press F10 to save and exit. Press and hold ESC key to lunch boot menu when notebook restart." That's what the ASUS site says to do to enter BIOS.

Well I have tried that from a cold power off boot.

Any other suggestions to get to BIOS menu on this model UX32A-RHI5N31 (with the 24GB issd)

There has to be a way to get into the BIOS menu

@jl_today: It should be Del upon boot up. If pressing the power button, then holding the Del key does nothing, try spamming/tapping the Del key repeatedly during POST.
