I've read that by default, the iSSD is used for express cache to quickly wake the system. I don't need it to store files and I want to keep using it as express cache. What do I need to do with the iSSD if I'm doing a clean windows 8 install?

I believe it is handled on a bios level, so if the hard drive has not changed you would be good to go.

Yep. The configuration is embedded, so wiping the hard drive should not affect the iSSD functionality as per your concern. :)

Treat it the same way as a raid setup basically.

Did you ever get this working? Did you install ExpressCache after Windows 8 install without errors? Does Intel Rapid Storage, assuming you installed that, show you the drive is accelerating or just 'Your system is functioning normally'?
