I know it is still pretty early for Win 8 as it was just made available the other day to Technet and MSDN. However I am wondering if anyone has done a clean install and would they share there experience.

Mine have been mixed so far in the 2 attempts I have tried.

Attempt 1 was a disaster. I did an upgrade from the stock Windows 7 image to the Release preview. All kinds of driver issues.

Attempt 2 was after the new RAM and onto a freshly formatted disk. I did a clean install and then went in and checked out device manager to see what needed fixing. This was a lot better but I am still not sure I have it quite right.

It is the video driver that I am most unsure of. I installed the Beta Nvidia drivers but I understand they require a special version of the Intel drivers to properly support the switching. I have just left the Intel drivers that came with Win 8. When I do launch a program it does seem that I am able to select the graphics card but I am not sure how to verify this.

All in all though the clean install is way better than the upgrade. This thing is fast. I get a resume in less than 2 seconds and a wake up from hibernate in 11.

I didn't install any of the Intel Storage or Rapid stuff, just the disk keeper express cache. So I am not sure that is correct either. Based on the hibernate resume it seems like it might be. Just not sure.

Anyway, if anyone has done this and can post a guide I would really be thankful.

I will also post my results as I go along. I just downloaded the RTM bits and we will installing over the weekend. Will try to configure it using all the drivers to see what happens.

    Thanks in advance
