So I've ordered myself a UX32VD, getting it tomorrow, and I have ordered a Samsung 830 256GB SSD and Kingston 8GB 1600MHZ DDR3 CL11 ram that I intend to upgrade with.

    But my question is..
With the soldered 32GB SSD, would you gain a performance boost to use it as ExpressCache or will the slower SSD decrease performance?

Would it be better to use the 32GB for hibernation/instant on or as a backup drive. Or can you raid the two drives somehow, and if, would there be a performance increase or decrease?

    Thanks in advance guys!
    Regards
    Tozs

    Hi,

You're much better off keeping the SSD using ExpressCache - as this will increase your boot speed and system performance. Using ExpressCache is basically a low-cost way to gain some of the performance of having a pure SSD system. You can learn more about ExpressCache at https://www.condusiv.com/partners/oem/technologies/expresscache and see it in action here Get 3x Your PC Speed with ExpressCache Technology - YouTube

u cant be serious right? with a samsung 830's read speed of upwards to 500+MB/s as your system drive already, how can the slower sandisk ssd be of help in terms of performance?

OP will probably be better off using it as a secondary storage drive instead

But will the cache, even tho it's on a slower SSD, be faster to read than have to recache the process?

I guess I have to try it out :p

I'll also throw a mail to Condusiv to see if I can get any answer from them xD

They had them in MediaMarkt here in Sweden but they were all sold out so they ordered one for me. Check with your nearest store to see if they got any supplier that could send one to them! :)

Please do share your results/findings. My Sammy 830 is on the way and i would like to know what gains - if any - there would be using the soldered SSD for express cache in conjunction with it.
