    Hi,

My UX32VD had Intel Rapid Storage installed. At some point it started to alert me that there is SMART event and my 500GB Hitachi hard drive might fail soon.
I made a SMART scan with SeaTools and it found nothing. Also used windows own chkdsk to check the health. Also, everything was good.

I assumed that Inter Rapid Storage is giving me false information and uninstalled it. Now I got alert from Windows 8 that there is a problem with disk.

What should I check now? What kind of test should I run?

Try something along the lines of HD Sentinel for SMART status, or use CrystalDisk Info.

Okay, HD Sentinel said that the there are 184 weak sectors.

I also found a info about it and a tutorial how to fix it. But, should I be worried and let my computer to be checked out or not?

No, you shouldn't be worried; you will not damage anything further by checking for weak sectors. But I strongly recommend that you back up anything you really need to hold on to first, just in case the drive fails during testing/repairing. Hard drives are problem children, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

    Thanks for the help.
Luckily I'm making regular backups to my 2 external drives. :)
