I'm not sure why it's so cheap now but the silver version of the ux390 can be had for $730 whereas the bigger 14" ux490, both 7th and the newer 8th gen, are a static $1700. It seems kind of bonkers considering they are built the same and in the same family.
I was all set to pay the exorbitant cost for the UX490 until I stumbled over the ux390 price on amazon.
12.5" is a bit small and only one usb c port is also a bummer. The 7200u is perfectly fine and so is the 8GB but the 256gb ssd is also on the small side. I also don't like the overly bright silver that much.
But it's less than half the price....

The 390 is a MUCH better deal for what you end up getting. I'd say paying 1000$ more for a 3cm larger screen and bigger SSD is not worth it. Especially when 512GB SSDs can be had for 200$ or so.

And now I can't decide between these two and the $1150 zenbook flip s aka q325ua on best buy. Fully loaded 16gb 512gb i7 and 11mm thin. I still want the ux490 more but not for that &$1700 price. The sad thing is there has never been any discounts or price drops and even the older version is the same price.
UX390 or UX490 for over twice the price?
