UX501VW Bios 402 Win 10-64. Mushkin 1TB SSD Startech 3.1 enclosure. Win 10 does not recognize SSD using Disk Management when connected to USB-C port. Using USB 3 cable and USB 3 port Win10 recognizes ,initializes, allocates and formats SSD and everything works fine using USB 3 connection . After init process using USB 3 cable and switching back to USB-C cable Win10 recognizes it but have intermittent failures, app hangs etc. Same results with second USB-C cable and Startech USB 3.1 Gen 2 adapter cable for Sata Drives which directly attaches SSD to USB-C.
Could not find USB driver updates on Asus site and checked with Mushkin and Startech. Any suggestions appreciated.

I just received an Ableconn Type C USB adapter for my desktop and the same 1TB SSD is recognized and works fine using the type C port. Will pursue with Asus support.

the usb-c port on this is finicky.

I recently started to get screen flickers with different usb-c hdmi adapters.

There's a thunderbolt patch hidden on ASUS' driver website (or maybe it's on intels, I don't remember) that will fix all your Type-C port issues.

the thunderbolt patch doesn't fix my graphics issues. I've applied it twice already.

look how many times the usb-c monitor blacks out when playing a game. It's the worst during games.

Sent my unit in to Asus for problem above and they replaced the motherboard but I still had the same problem described above when it was returned. Just applied the Thunderbolt patch and the external SSD now works using the USB C port
